Frequently Asked Questions

01

What’s the difference between Parent Therapy and Parent Coaching?

Parent therapy and parent coaching serve different but complementary purposes. Parent therapy focuses on your emotional experience as a parent—your stress, fears, past experiences, and how they impact your parenting today. Parent coaching is more practical and skills-based, helping you with specific strategies, routines, and tools for handling day-to-day challenges. In my work, we can blend both, so you get emotional support and concrete tools that fit your family.

02

What does sliding scale mean?

A sliding scale is a flexible fee structure that adjusts the cost of sessions based on your financial situation. This means you may pay less than my full fee if your income or circumstances qualify. It’s designed to make therapy more accessible while still honoring the value of the work. We’ll talk openly about your needs and agree on a rate that feels sustainable and fair for both of us.

03

What if I can’t meet every week?

That’s okay—we’ll work together to find a rhythm that fits your life. Weekly sessions are often helpful, especially at the beginning, but they’re not the only option. Depending on your goals, we can explore meeting every other week or creating a schedule that works around your family, work, and energy levels. The most important thing is that our plan feels realistic and supportive, not overwhelming.

04

Can I do both Parent Therapy and Parent Coaching?

Absolutely. It can be very helpful to have multiple layers of support. In our work together, we can move fluidly between therapy and coaching, depending on what you need in a given session. Some weeks might focus more on your emotional experience and nervous system, while others are more about concrete strategies, scripts, or routines. We’ll keep checking in so the balance feels right for you.

05

Do you take insurance?
Do I have to use it?

Yes, I do take insurance through Headway. You can choose to use your insurance benefits if that’s the best fit for you. You’re also not required to use insurance, even if you have it—some families prefer to pay privately for more flexibility or privacy. If you’re unsure what makes the most sense, we can talk through the pros and cons together so you can make an informed choice.

06

Ready to get started?

Contact me here or find me on Headway to schedule a consultation. We’ll talk about what’s going on in your family, what kind of support you’re looking for, and whether we’re a good fit to work together. There’s no pressure to commit—this is simply a chance to explore what you need and how I can help.
